Welcome
The CanopyWMS operator guide — run the warehouse floor, from receiving through pick, pack, and ship.
This is the guide for your 3PL's staff, the people running the warehouse floor. It walks through the operator side of CanopyWMS one workflow at a time, from goods arriving at the dock to orders going out the door.
The examples use the same demo brand as the rest of the docs, Canopy Condiments, viewed from the operator's seat inside the Your 3PL tenant. So every screen matches what your team sees when they sign in as warehouse staff, not as a brand.
Who this guide is for
You're a warehouse operator, team lead, or 3PL admin. You see every client's data and run the floor. This is different from the Brand Portal, which is what a single brand sees on their own client account.
The floor, end to end
A unit of stock moves through the warehouse in a predictable order. These guides follow that path.
| Stage | What happens | Section |
|---|---|---|
| Orders | Orders land from sales channels; allocate, hold, and queue them. | Orders |
| Receiving | Stock arrives against a PO and gets counted in. | Receiving |
| Putaway | Received stock is moved from the dock into bins. | Warehouse Ops |
| Storage | Bins, zones, cycle counts, and replenishment keep stock accurate and pickable. | Inventory, Warehouse, Warehouse Ops |
| Picking | Orders are batched into pick lists and picked into totes. | Picking |
| Packing | Picked orders are packed, boxed, and labelled. | Packing |
| Shipping | Labels are bought, tracking flows, carrier services are mapped. | Shipping |
| Returns | RMAs come back to be received, inspected, dispositioned, and refunded. | Returns |
The rest of the guide
Beyond the floor, a few sections cut across every client:
- Dashboard — your all-clients operations overview.
- Customers — look up any shopper's order and return history.
- Automation — rules that route and tag orders automatically.
- Reports — exportable summaries of what shipped, moved, and is on hand.
- Administration — clients, users, and tenant branding.
New here? Start with these
If this is your first shift, read Getting started first — it covers signing in, the 3PL-and-clients model, and the app shell. And whenever a term is unfamiliar (SKU, tote, allocated, put-back…), the Glossary defines every one.
Billing lives in the operator app too, but it isn't live in production yet, so it isn't documented here. We'll add it once it ships.
How this guide is built
Each section is written straight from the live app and backed by real screenshots, one per screen, tab, and dialog. Nothing here is aspirational. If a button, status, or state is described, it exists in the version of CanopyWMS running in production today.
